What is Recessed Downlight？

Downlights save space, enhance the soft ambiance of a room, and maintain the overall unity of architectural decor, without disrupting the coherence of ceiling design. All their light is cast downward, making them direct-lighting fixtures. Different light effects can be achieved by using various reflectors/anti-glare shields, lenses, and LED chips.

What Are the Differences Between Surface Mount, Flush Mount, and Recessed Downlights?

  • Surface Mount: The fixture is fixed directly on the ceiling/wall surface. The fixture itself protrudes outward, so its housing and edges are visible.
  • Flush Mount: The main body of the fixture is embedded in the ceiling, but its light-emitting surface is completely flush with the ceiling. The sides of the fixture are not visible—only the light-emitting area can be seen.
  • Recessed Mount: The entire fixture is embedded inside the ceiling. Its light-emitting surface is lower than the ceiling surface, forming a "sunken light slot/hole".

Why Do LED Downlights Flicker?

LED downlights flicker due to unstable power, mismatched circuits, or component issues, internally (faulty drivers, loose wiring) or externally (incompatible dimmers, voltage fluctuations).

How to Properly Install LED Downlights?

For new construction or retrofit, choose the correct hole size (common 4", 6", or 8"), secure the fixture with spring clips, and ensure proper wiring (match polarity if required). Always turn off power before installation.

How Many LED Downlights Do I Need?  And How to Calculate？

Use half the ceiling height as the spacing between downlights (e.g., 2.5m ceiling height → roughly 1.25m spacing), or follow a general spacing of 1–1.5m for even illumination. For residential spaces, aim for 800–1600 lumens per light; for commercial spaces, go with 2000+ lumens per light.
